Lionsbot R3 Scrub: the growing use of robots in the workplace
Interclean has always showcased the latest innovations in cleaning. And if there's one thing we can't ignore, it's that the future is now! Meet the floor scrubber that makes both scrubbing and dry-cleaning fully autonomous and accessible anywhere: the Lionsbot R3 Scrub. Frederik Gousseart, Robotic Specialist at BOMA, takes you on a tour of the Lionsbot stand.
The cleaning revolution: from manual and mechanical cleaning to robotic cleaning
When the first Lionsbot cleaning robot was developed, the cleaning industry was already undergoing a revolution. Today, the i-Mop or walk-behind machine has replaced the flat mop. Switching to a fully autonomous cleaning robot was the natural next step. The first step was taken with the LeoScrub. And the R3 Scrub brings us even closer to the future we envision.
Lionsbot R3 Scrub: a first impression
The moment you meet the newest member of the Lionsbot family, the first thing you notice is the pair of animated eyes on its LED screen. Then there's its size, which is reminiscent of a 'small' walk-behind machine and immediately sets it apart from other Lionsbot robots. "It's a very compact, maneuverable, and fun robot," explains Frederik. "It's fun because, while it doesn't strike up conversations like the Leobots do, it still communicates using playful emoticons on its LED display. One thing that stands out right away is how slim it is, just 41 cm wide, so it can easily navigate narrow hallways where larger robots can't go. And thanks to its small footprint and budget-friendly price, it's a smart choice for smaller sites."
Making cleaning robots more accessible
Robotics has been steadily growing in the cleaning industry, but the reality is that not every business or site can afford a robot. The R3 changes that by making cleaning automation more accessible in 4 key ways:
Ease of use
This cleaning robot is simple to use. In basic environments, it's easy for the user to create the route, maintenance is even more straightforward than with a traditional machine or other robots. "The debris bin, squeegee bar, and rubber parts are magnetic, so you can pop them off and clean them without any hassle. Swapping out the rubbers is quick too, which is perfect when you want to switch to a dry mop," explains Frederik.
A single machine for scrubbing and drying
The R3 floor scrubber is extremely compact, making it ideal for narrow corridors. "When you arrive at a site, it's usually clear right away whether the R3 or the LeoScrub is the better fit," says Frederik. "The R3 is suited for smaller, simpler sites, where the innovative features and interactive capabilities of the Leobots are less important."
Suitable for tight spaces
Being very compact, the R3 floor scrubber is perfect for tackling narrow corridors. "When you arrive at a site, it's usually clear right away whether the R3 or the LeoScrub is the better fit," says Frederik. "The R3 is suited for smaller, simpler sites, where the innovative features and interactive capabilities of the Leobots are less important."
An attractive price
Another that makes this robot even more accessible is its price. "Compared with other cleaning robots, this one is almost ridiculously cheap," laughs Frederik.
What types of sites are the machine suitable for?
From office buildings to hospitals, hotels, and even school corridors... This machine can make its way anywhere! The same goes for museums, shopping centers, libraries, and banks. Need to keep the robot out of certain areas? Just mark them as 'restricted zones' through the app or directly on the robot's LED screen.
Bucking the trend
So far we've introduced you to a variety of different cleaning robots. These range from the friendly Ella vacuum-scrubber to the more robust Rex. With R3 Scrub, Lionsbot has taken things one step further. This robot is not a gadget. While it may look like a 'normal' walk-behind machine that any cleaning technician would recognize, it's fully autonomous. The manufacturer bucks the trend by offering a machine that can integrate seamlessly into any cleaning environment.

Wondering if a cleaning robot would work for your site? We'd be happy to explore that possibility with you. "We take a close look at the area to be cleaned, review your current process, and work with you to optimize it." BOMA is truly a hands-on partner. Frederik explains, "With this robot, setting up cleaning routes is especially easy, but our robotics specialists are always happy to help you choose the right model, integrate it into your cleaning routine, and put it to work.

The future of cleaning
At BOMA, we work closely with our customers and are always eager to showcase the latest innovations. Robots open the door to more creative ways of thinking about your cleaning operations. The purpose of the robot isn't to replace your cleaning team, but support it! Frederik explains, "With a walk-behind or ride-on machine, you can usually only scrub once per workday, whereas a robot can run on its own several times a day. That frees up the cleaning staff to focus on less repetitive and less physically demanding tasks. As a result, both employee well-being and site hygiene improve.
